National Starch & Chemical Company, a member of the ICI Group, is a market-driven, value-oriented, innovation-based leader in the development, production and application of industrial adhesives, specialty starches, electronic materials, and specialty polymer products.
With more than 9,500 employees worldwide, and sales of $3.29 billion (US) in 2004, National operates nine major R&D laboratories and produces thousands of differentiated, polymer-based products from an international network of 145 manufacturing and customer service centers located in 38 countries on six continents.
Headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey, National is organized into four product-based divisions and 18 business units defined by their industrial markets and application dynamics. The Salisbury location produces for the Adhesives, Specialty Starches and Specialty Polymers divisions and Salisbury’s capacity was expanded about a third in the recent construction projects. The consumer uses of Salisbury’s products are many and varied including hair spray, duct tape and nicotine medicine patches and many consumer electronics. Products take anywhere from four hours to four days to several weeks to make with multiple processes involved.
