Utilities to Meet the Most Demanding Needs

Rowan County is fully equipped to handle your utility needs. We have many companies located in our area that provide reliable and affordable telecommunications, electric power, natural gas, water, sewer and solid waste disposal.

ElectricityDuke Energy provides electricity for most of Rowan County. In the Town of Landis service is provided through ElectriCities, an electric cooperative

Natural GasPiedmont Natural Gas provides services for most of northern Rowan County. Dominion Energy provides services in some areas of southern Rowan County.

WaterSalisbury-Rowan Utilities is Rowan County’s primary water provider, serving all municipalities except the towns of Faith and Cleveland. Maximum daily capacity is 18,000,000 gallons per day (GPD) with an average demand of 9,240,000 GPD. Surplus is 8,760,000 GPD above average demand. The Yadkin River provides Salisbury with its water with an average daily flow of 2 billion gallons per day.

Town of Faith – The Town of Faith maintains their own water through a municipal well system. For more information, please contact the Town of Faith at (704) 279-7500.

Town of Cleveland – The Town of Cleveland maintains its own water supply. For more information, please contact the Cleveland Town Hall at (704) 278-4777.
Water rate schedules for area providers are available upon request.

Sewer ServicesSalisbury-Rowan Utilities – Rowan County’s primary sewer treatment provider serving all municipalities except the Town of Cleveland. Salisbury-Rowan Utilities has two sewage treatment facilities with a total capacity of 12,500,000 GPD. Average daily volume used is 8,070,000 GPD leaving an excess capacity of 4,430,000 GPD.

Town of Faith – The Town of Faith businesses and residents have their own wastewater collection system and send their flows to the Salisbury-Rowan Utilities for treatment. For more information, please contact the Town of Faith at (704) 279-7500.

Town of Cleveland – The Town of Cleveland maintains their own waste treatment plant. For more information, please contact the Cleveland Town Hall at (704) 278-4777. Sewer rate schedules for area providers are available upon request.

Solid Waste DisposalRowan County – Operates a 415 ton per day landfill for its residents and businesses. The landfill has a current life expectancy of 50+ years and is located at 789 Campbell Road. Solid waste is generally charged on a per ton basis.

Communications – Broadband services include Fision/Hotwire, a 100% fiber optic network providing the fastest city-wide internet up to 10 gigabits per second (GBPS). Other providers include Spectrum, AT&T, Nuvox and Windstream.

Public Transportation is provided by the Rowan Transit System and the Salisbury Transit System. Passenger rail service is available through AMTRAK in Salisbury and in Kannapolis.
